Developing Students' Listening Comprehension and Metacognitive Awareness through Metacognitive Process-Based Listening Instruction

Metacognitive Instruction in Listening is a pedagogical procedure that allows the learners to enhance their awareness of listening process and, at same time, helps them develop skills. This quasi-experiment study conducted on ninety (90) Grade 10 students determine efficacy Process-Based students' comprehension and metacognitive awareness. A pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research design consisting two (2) heterogeneous intact classes were used establish effects level among Malaybalay City National Science High School for Year 2019-2020. The instruments were: (a) validated teacher-made pretest/posttest an adopted questionnaire (MALQ). Descriptive statistics such as mean, percentage standard deviation utilized identify awareness, while t-test analysis covariance (ANCOVA) significant difference between results revealed (MPBLI) was Elementary Level (37.60) pretest then became Advanced (62.67) posttest, Non-Metacognitive (NMBLI) (34. 89) Upper Intermediate (58.15) posttest. For level, MPBLI Moderately Positive (3.74) pretest, which later turned (4.11) On other hand, who NMPBLI had (3.62) remained (3.82) There also groups' with probability value 0.00. Generally, helped improve well enhanced level.
